Crafty!

I absolutely love crafts! I've done crafts for a few things and I always like to try to do something crafty in the event of a fundraiser or special event. I also enjoy decorating for parties and holidays always call for something crafty! This page will be for all of my crafts in hopes that they will inspire!

Homemade Finger Paints

While babysitting this past week, I needed to find something for my cousins and I to do that would occupy a little almost-two-year old! I took to searching for "fun activities for two-year olds" on Pinterest and found this! I'm including a new recipe that I just looked up since I didn't really care for the one I found. Here it is:

1/2 Cup cornstarch of 1 Cup Flour

4 Tablespoons of Sugar

2 Cups of Cold Water

A Pinch of Salt

Food Coloring

I've included a picture of the ingredients I used since I took the time and effort to take one, but again, if you see a recipe that includes only the ingredients in the picture, find another one. The recipe I used did work fine, but I didn't like it too much. Also, I included a picture of the crew making their masterpieces, and if you'll notice... I even got my fifteen year-old brother to participate. Yay me!

TMNT Crayon Art

I decided to try my hand at melted crayon art that was all the rage for awhile. The rage seems to have slowed down for the most part, but I've always been a "late bloomer" so why not now? This crayon art was made specifically for someone who absolutely loves Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. So, I went on the internet (Google specifically) and looked up Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle decals and then blew up one that I liked, cut it out as well as I could, and traced it. Because the outline of the decal was so detailed, I couldn't cut it all out so I ended up freehanding some of the outline and all of the middle details. I then looked on Pinterest for some crayon art inspiration and actually found one extremely similar to the one I ended up doing that had the colors done a certain way and I just followed that. The total cost of this project was about $20 and I have plenty of extra supplies to make another one. I purchased all of my supplies from Hobby Lobby since they're always having sales. I bought

Two 11" X 14" Canvases for about $6

A 92 Count Crayon box for about $5

A tube of black acrylic paint for about $3

A package of paintbrushes for about $6

As I mentioned before, I traced the printed blown up decal, then went over the penciling with the black acrylic paint and painted the drawing completely. Then I hot glued to crayons to the canvas, and lastly I used my blow dryer to melt the crayons. I prepared for my mess with a ton of paper towels, but the crayons went EVERYwhere! I got some Pine-Sol and got to scrubbing and then I thought... Why not use the blow dryer to melt the wax mess?! My boyfriend proceeded to make fun of me, but I thought it was pretty brilliant! Anywho, here's the final product!

Owl Name Badge

I decided to use a bookmark that I bought from Target last year and remove the actual book-marking part and hot glue all of the felt to reinforce it and then hot glue the finished product onto the front of my ID badge holder. I like how it turned out!

Halloween Goodie-Buckets

I made these Halloween of 2012 as a gift to my coworkers. I was selling Mary Kay Cosmetics at the time and these little buckets (instead of baskets) were a great gift/marketing tool! Everything on/in the buckets was bought from Target. The owls are bookmarks.

Heidi's Baby Shower

This took place September of 2012. My Aunt's baby shower theme was simply pink and brown. I provided all of the décor including the floral arrangements (bought not made) and I made the wreath and the "guess the weight and the date" game and the guess-card basket. On October 4th, my beautiful cousin Ryleigh was born. I've also included a couple of pictures from her one year photo shoot. (Her photos were taken by my boyfriend's amazing cousin, Becky Kudelka).
